About Shipping Containers

At GTS Container Sales and Modifications, we stock new, used*, refurbished as well as refrigerated shipping containers for sale throughout Victoria for domestic or commercial use. Check out our grading system below for your requirements.

There are a number of different types of shipping containers available that will vary in size, material and structure to suit your specific needs. Learn more about shipping containers here:

Dry Shipping Containers

Available as 10 foot,  20 foot or 40 foot, these are the most common type of shipping containers available because they are typically used to store dry goods.

Double Door Shipping Containers

Available as 20 foot or 40 foot, these containers are similar to the dry containers but have a set of doors at both ends for easier access when loading and unloading goods. Access to goods from both sides allows drive through access.

Side Opening Shipping Containers

Available as 20 foot or 40 foot, in addition to the standard set of container doors at one end, these containers also have doors to one full side of the container for easier access to load/unload long and wide items.

Open Top Shipping Containers

Available as 20 foot or 40 foot, these containers have a completely removable top which allows for access to goods from the top and works well for use to store or transport over-height items.

Refrigerated Containers

Available as 20 foot or 40 foot (also known as reefer containers), are insulated and typically have a 3 phase motor to regulate and control the temperature of perishable goods such as produce, food items. In used condition, these units come as either operational or non-operational.

Flat Rack Containers

Available in 20 foot or 40 foot lengths, these units have either posts or full sides that can either be fixed or collapsible to accommodate heavy or oversized loads, construction equipment, building supplies or heavy machinery.

Shipping Container Grades

​ GTS Container Sales stock a variety of grades of both 20 foot and 40 foot shipping containers and prices and stock availability will vary based on the quality that you desire. As a result, YOU choose the type of unit you want:

“AS IS” USED* condition – Units that are not surveyed on arrival into our depot and may have minor damage that can be repaired.

“WIND AND WATER TIGHT” USED* condition – Great for storing^ goods/tools/outdoor equipment that needs to stay undercover and secure. Structurally sound, wind and water tight and vermin proof. Not suitable to be certified for international shipping. Operational and lockable doors and will have significant rust and many dents present. Will likely need touchup paintwork and a pressure wash.

“CARGO WORTHY” USED* condition – RECOMMENDED – Good for storing^ household items. Cargo worthy condition is suitable to be re-certified for international shipping. They will be structurally sound, wind and water tight and vermin proof with operational and lockable doors. Rust and dents are present. In cosmetically better condition than wind and water tight quality.

“PAINTED PREMIUM” USED* condition – Cargo worthy containers that have been fully refurbished. They will be painted (interior and exterior) with floors washed / cleaned and /or sanded back for a clean overall fresh look.

“NEW / ONE TRIP” Factory new, one trip from Manufacturer to Australia with one cargo load.

* USED containers will be approximately 12-20+ years old. We recommend that general ongoing maintenance and regular care of your shipping container is required and should be performed to ensure your purchase stays water tight.

^ When STORING goods LONG TERM, it is always recommended that some form of ventilation be installed, such as Whirly Bird, Vents etc to your shipping container to assist airflow within.
